Saint Boniface Catholic Cemetery was the first of the German cemeteries and contains the burials of the builders of the German Catholic community. The cemetery underwent extensive renovation in the 1960's, with the old archway entrance on Clark Street removed to permit better vehicle passage. A new office, chapel and service building were constructed on property acquired to the north. Saint Boniface is presently out of grave space. The cemetery also supervises Saint Henry Cemetery, which has a limited number of graves available.

St. Boniface Cemetery has been a part of Chicago since it opened in 1863. The Chicago climate has taken its toll upon the wall that stretches sixteen hundred feet along Lawrence Avenue. The wall has deteriorated beyond the point of repair. As you review the presentation you will see our plan for its' replacement moving forward. Alderman James Cappelman has met with representatives of the Cemeteries to review the design and duration of the project. We want to thank the Alderman and his staff for their support on this project. And we want to thank the community for their patience and cooperation during the project. If there are any questions or concerns please feel free to call our office at 708-449-6100.
