Calvary Catholic Cemetery remains one of the most historical of all our cemeteries. It is the burial place of Mayors, Governors, and many public figures prominent in every phase of the development of Chicago. Calvary's most distressing event was the loss of its tree-lined road in the 1960's due to Dutch Elm disease. The Elms, dating back nearly one hundred years, were removed because of this problem. Calvary Cemetery currently has no graves available. This cemetery also supervises Saint Peter Cemetery in Skokie and Saint Joseph Cemetery in Wilmette.
