Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery originally opened to serve the rapidly growing Polish Community in the southeast Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana. Today the cemetery welcomes all Catholics of varying ethnic groups. In 1983 an Interment Chapel / Garden Crypt Complex was erected. A new Garden / Crypt Complex, adjacent to the original structure, was completed in 1989 and dedicated to Our Lady of Czestochowa, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and to Saint Anne, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The complex contains 5,600 crypts and niches. Recently, Shared Family Memorials were erected in Section 27 on the south end of the cemetery.
