About
History:
Consecrated in 1923, All Saints Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums spans 257 acres off of Central Road and North River Road in Des Plaines, Illinois and has over 132,000 interments. The older part of the cemetery, located on the east side of North River Road opened in 1923 and is noted for its attractive cemetery design of roads converging into concentric circles throughout the cemetery. In 1954, the cemetery expanded to the west side of North River Road. The west side of All Saints features the first Interment Chapel built in the Archdiocesean Cemeteries (1961) and is the site of the third Community Mausoleum in the Archdiocese of Chicago (dedicated in 1976 by Cardinal Cody).
In 2001, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Garden Mausoleum was dedicated by Cardinal Frances George, which features outdoor above-ground burial spaces for full-body and cremated remains. In 2010, the Office and Chapel building achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold status for its environmentally friendly vegetated roof and maximization of natural light.
In 2017, In response to the growing popularity of cremation, All Saints became the site of the first Cremation Garden in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The Cremation Garden of Saint Francis provides an array of interment choices in a picturesque outdoor setting.
