Maryhill

Consecrated in 1961, Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, located in Niles, Illinois, spans 251 acres and has over 63,000 interments (as of 12/31/22). The name “Maryhill” pays homage to “Jasna Góra” (which translates to “bright hill” in Polish), which is the site of the shrine dedicated to the sacred icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa, also referred to as the Black Madonna and serves as a popular pilgrimage site. The cemetery features a memorial erected by the Polish Veterans, honoring those who fought abroad and in America under the Polish flag. Another prominent feature of Maryhill is the shrine honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patron Saint of the Americas, Our Lady of Czestochowa, Queen of Poland and St. John Paul II.
